A Tennessee Conversation with General Carl W. Stiner

Date: 16 Mar 2010 to 16 Mar 2010 Time: 12 p.m. Location: East Tennessee History Center

Enter into a shadowy world of intrigue, terrorism, and secret military operations as General Carl W. Stiner talks about his career with US Special Operation Command. From the capture of the terrorists in the Achille Lauro hijacking to the Panamanian invasion and capture of dictator Manuel Noriega to Desert Storm, General Stiner has had a front row seat to important military operations and decisions that gives him a unique perspective into present events.

He will also discuss his life and career and how he, as a boy from the hills of East Tennessee and a graduate of Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, rose to the ranks of Four Star General.

During his thirty-five year career, General Stiner commanded the Army’s preeminent contingency strike forces, including the Joint Special Operations Command, the 82nd Airborne Division and the XVIII Airborne Corp, and all special operations during Operation Desert Storm.  In 2004 he was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame. With Tom Clancy, he co-authored the 2002 best-selling book Shadow Warriors: Inside the Special Forces.
