Several writers will share their poems, stories and essays published in “A Tapestry of Voices: an East Tennessee Anthology” at Union Ave Books from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22.

“I sincerely appreciate the support Union Ave Books gives individual writers by providing a venue to spotlight their talent,” Judith Duvall, one of four contributors scheduled to read at the event, said. “I look forward to joining other readers in sharing our work from the Knoxville Writers’ Guild anthology,&amp;nbsp; ‘A Tapestry of Voices,’ a collection whose theme is diversity.”

The diversity theme also will be reflected in the reading, which will feature both prose and verse on a wide range of subjects. Duvall, for example, will read her poem, “City Friends,” and her short story, “Different Rules,” both printed in the anthology.

Joining Duvall are Lucy Sieger, whose essay about spiritual polygamy appears early in the book; Artress Bethany White, a poet and assistant professor at Carson&#45;Newman College; and Jennifer Alldredge, who said the annual Shakespeare on the Square serves as the backdrop for her story, “Tarantella.”

Kay Newton and Doris Ivie edited “A Tapestry of Voices,” backed by a KWG committee that includes Martha Yarnell (chair), Kim West (designer), Meg Bensey, Carole Anne Borges, Duvall and Cathy Kodra. The anthology is currently available for purchase at Union Ave Books and other independent bookstores or at http://www.knoxvillewritersguild.org.

Union Ave Books is located at 517 Union Ave., Knoxville. For more information about this and future events, visit http://www.knoxvillewritersguild.org or unionavebooks.com.

What I Love About Downtown Knoxville
(In the style of My Favorite Things)

Chic modern fashions, both new and consignment, fill storefront windows with style and refinement.
Crass Couture, ReRuns and Fizz&#8212;what a thrill!
That&#8217;s what I love about Downtown Knoxville!

Musicians performing for Blue Plates and quarters, Bearded men drinking a few New World Porters, Art
Market painters displaying their skill:
That&#8217;s what I love about Downtown Knoxville!

Screen&#45;printed onesies in Rala&#8217;s front windows, Sandwich at Just Ripe with cheese and pimentos, Kepner
Melts tempt me no matter my will:
That&#8217;s what I love about Downtown Knoxville!

When the lots&#8217; full! When the wait&#8217;s long!
When the crowds won&#8217;t part,
I still count my blessings for Downtown Knoxville, and love it with all my heart!</description>
